Member HelpThis section allows you view other members, including those who are currently online. When you first become a member you are asked to specify the following details:
These personal details are confidential and will not be shared with third parties. They are not displayed on any public or member screens. After you have confirmed your membership, you may further customise your account. Through the Account Settings screen, you may customise whether you wish to receive email notifications, whether your profile page should be private and able to receive comments, and whether HTML is to be allowed on guestbook comments. Through the Profile Settings screen, you may customise additional fields, such as your profile headline, hobbies, books, and general information about yourself. The profile fields are available for searching through the Member Browse screen, in addition to searching by location and username. In the Member Browse area, select the pull-down field next to the words "Keyword search for", and select the profile field you wish to search for. In this way you can find other members in your local area, who share the same interests in books, music and other subjects. Communicating with other membersThere are many ways you can communicate with other members.
If you are browsing through the Members, (or any other part of the site) and you see a Member you know, you can click on their picture and see their personal page. On this page you can see the Contact Panel, listing the ways you can communicate. Send MessageThis will send a message to the member's inbox on the site. You can send text, smileys, addresses, and links to pictures. However you cannot send an actual file to another member. Instant MessageThis will initiate a Live Chat with the member. If they are logged on, they will see an alert box on their screen, saying someone wants to chat. If they click on the link, it will list the name of the requestor. They can Chat, or Deny. You will be advised it they deny your request. Send CrushA crush is a way of sending an "anonymous" poem and picture to another member. There is a selection to choose from, including the traditional "Roses are Red...". The recipient gets to guess who has sent the email. If they don't guess, they will never get to see your name. |
